Edition number 11 for the Hobie Fishing European Championship takes place in Slovakia. Oravská Priehrada, also known as the Orava Reservoir, is the largest lake in Slovakia, covering an area of 35.2 square kilometers. Situated in the northern part of the country near the town of Námestovo, the reservoir was created between 1941 and 1953 by constructing a dam that merged the White Orava and Black Orava rivers. This development led to the submersion of several villages, the remnants of which are still visible today.

Competitors arrived over the last couple of days and the event site slowly transformed in the Hobie Fishing Euros HQ! Anglers were anxious to explore the lake and mark their spots for the competition days. Today they were allowed to be on water to determine their strategy and pre fish the arena.

The morning started foggy, but it did not take long for the sun to breach and clear it up. Anglers saw fish, caught fish, but as always don’t want to share too much during the pre fish day. Reports from local anglers over the past week say that Pike and Zander are wiling to play, but the Perch are tough to find and to trick into biting.

During the Captains Briefing Frantisek Zderka, our organising partner and record holder Hobie Fishing Euros competitor welcomed all competitors to his country and fishing grounds! The rules were clarified and everybody is excited to get it going! We’re going to have dinner now, see you tomorrow.

The start of Competition Day 1 will be at 7:00 tomorrow. Stay tuned!
